Explore the Paths of the Caucasus on a 10-day route connecting the vital arteries of Georgia and Armenia. Unlike other itineraries that detour to deep southern Georgia, this proposal optimizes time to offer a balanced experience between the northern mountains, wine culture and medieval monasteries, crossing the border through the north for a smooth transition between alpine landscapes and volcanic plateaus.
Georgian Splendor
We will begin our experience in Georgia exploring the Kakheti region. Here, among vineyards and wineries, we will discover why this country is considered the cradle of wine. The route will then take us to the heights, ascending to Gudauri and Kazbegi. You will feel the smallness of human beings against the immensity of Mount Kazbek and Gergeti Church, suspended among the clouds. Back in the capital, Tbilisi, we will have time to get lost in its labyrinthine streets and absorb the mix of Persian, Russian and European influences.
Northern Armenia and Lake Sevan
The crossing to Armenia is made through the Sadakhlo border, which allows us to immediately visit the jewels of Armenian medieval architecture: the monasteries of Haghpat and Sanahin. These UNESCO sites, located on the edge of the Debed River canyon, are testimony to the cultural flourishing of the region in the 10th century. The journey continues along the spectacular Lake Sevan, one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the world, where we will visit the Sevanavank monastery on its peninsula.
Finally, we will arrive in Yerevan. From the "pink city", we will make radial excursions to the Garni Temple, the only Hellenistic vestige in the region, and to Geghard Monastery, famous for being partially carved into the rock. We will also pay homage at the Genocide Memorial and explore the spiritual center of Echmiadzin. This trip is the perfect option for those seeking a linear, logical route full of historical milestones.
