The "Classic Caucasus Route" is an 11-day journey that distills the region's history in its purest form. Unlike other options that veer west or toward the coast, this itinerary focuses exclusively on the eastern, central and southern axis, following historic commercial and religious routes. It is a linear and coherent journey, perfect for archaeology and history lovers.
Georgia: The Historical Heart
From Tbilisi, we will explore Kakheti's vineyards and the high peaks of the Georgian Military Highway in Kazbegi. The journey then takes us to the heart of Georgian history in Stalin's birthplace, Gori, and the ancient pagan city carved into rock at Uplistsikhe. We will descend south to marvel at the cave city of Vardzia, a symbol of Georgia's golden age.
Armenia: The Sacred Land
Crossing into Armenia via Bavra Pass opens the doors to a world of millennial spirituality. We will visit Gyumri and then focus on the sacred triangle around Yerevan: Echmiadzin cathedral, Garni temple and Geghard monastery. We will also include a visit to Lake Sevan and Sevanavank monastery. This journey offers a clear and continuous narrative of the evolution of civilizations in the Caucasus, without distractions, straight to the essence.
